The Elba Cemetery Association will hold a memorial service on Memorial Day at 9:00 a.m. at the cemetery. Everyone is welcome to attend. In the case of rain, the service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Elba.

Concordia University, Nebraska recently named two hundred and twenty- three students to its honors list for the spring 2023 semester. Students who earn a 3.90 GPA or higher while also completing at least twelve credit hours qualify for the honors list.

All children are invited to the Lunch Bunch every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Lunch is free and is served at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Life Center at 713 Elm Street. Enter through the north door.

Get ready for a monthlong literary extravaganza, as the St. Paul Library recently announced its highly anticipated summer reading program, themed “All Together Now.” Running from June 5th until June 30th, the program promises an engaging lineup of presentations and events that will captivate readers of all ages. Registration is now open at the library.

The family of Jim Nelson wishes to extend our sincere thanks for the many acts of kindness and support that we have received while we began traveling this new road without our Dad or River Grandpa. Your prayers, visits, cards, calls, texts, food, and memorials after his death have been a great comfort to us. We also send our gratitude and appreciation to the Cairo Q.R.T, Grand Island Ambulance, and the staff of St. Francis for the wonderful care given to Dad. Your care for the family also didn’t go unnoticed. Special thanks to Pastor Bob Carlson for his reassuring message, and all who added their musical touch to the beautiful service. The Wolbach American Legion Auxiliary Unit #236, Legion Post #236, and Sons of American Legion Squadron #236 will conduct their annual Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29th. The observance starts at the auditorium at 10:00 a.m., then will conclude at Hillside Cemetery, where the roll call of deceased veterans will be read, a twentyone- gun salute fired, TAPS played, and the retreat.
