Sunday morning, the South Loup River was flowing at 220 cubic-feet-per-second (cfs), a bit less than last week. Shawn noticed the Middle Loup River was up on Saturday and down Sunday morning. At St. Paul, the Middle Loup River is up quite a bit, reading 2,250 cfs higher than last week. The North Loup River has been about steady since Thursday, reading 999 cfs. The flocks of geese have reduced some, so now I can hear the songbirds better. Shawn saw dead skunks along the road in Kansas, so spring is getting here.

The St. Paul Elementary students participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fund raising event for the American Heart Association…“I am so proud of the students…” said St. Paul Elementary physical education teacher Nancy Harrington, who organized the event. “The students made a valiant effort to collect money this year. All together we collected more money this year than ever before. We collected $7,500 for the Heart Association!! This translates into saving 150 lives!”

SHERIFF, COMMISSIONER RACES MATERIALIZE

The nonincumbent filing deadline for the statewide primary election was March 2nd at 5:00 p.m. According to filing information current as of that deadline, primary races will take place for Howard County’s Commissioner District 3 and the sheriff’s office, as well as for the District 41 seat in the state legislature— which represents Wheeler, Boone, Valley, Greeley, Sherman, and Howard counties, plus parts of Buffalo and Hall counties.
