Senator Meyer reflects on session, looks to future

The sixty-day second session of the 108th Legislature came to an end last Thursday, April 18th. In an address to lawmakers last week, Governor Jim Pillen said that senators should be proud of their accomplishments but stressed that the failure of the state’s legislative branch to pass his sponsored property tax relief package, Legislative Bill (LB) 388, would lead him to reconvene the body later this year.

St. Paul police cite six during special campaign

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data released earlier this month, distracted driving accounted for eleven percent of all police-reported motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2022, including twelve percent of all crashes that resulted in injury and eight percent of those resulting in death. It constitutes, says the NHTSA, a major—and growing—safety hazard nationwide.

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced a record number of members for the 2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, and sprint football who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their college careers.

Unlawful to place campaign signs on state’s rights-of-way

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is reminding the public that it is unlawful to place political campaign signs, or any signs, on state highway and interstate rights-of-way. This includes intersections, medians, entrance and exit ramps, sidewalks, and the ditches and lands that make up the right-of-way bordering the length of each roadway.

First Holy Communion held at Sts. Peter & Paul

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION was celebrated during the ten o’clock Mass on Sunday, April 14th, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. Twenty-six students received the special sacrament.
