MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BANDS from across the state joined the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) on Saturday for the sixty-fifth annual UNK Band Day Parade. The downtown Kearney event featured a total of twenty-nine bands, including the Centura High School Marching Band.
In what has become a tradition in St. Paul, members of the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the St. Paul Police Department, and the public took to the grandstands and the track at St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) as part of the community’s third annual Memorial Stair Climb, which took place on both September 11th and September 14th this year.
For roughly the next five-and-a-half years, the Museum of Nebraska Major League Baseball, located in downtown St. Paul, will be one of forty-five stops listed on the Baseball Attractions Pass-Port, a compilation of “the most unique, interactive, and historic baseball-related destinations in North America.”

Discussion about both the county’s roads building project and the county’s roads in general dominated a relatively brief regular meeting of the Howard County Board of Commissioners last Tuesday. During their previous regular meeting, on August 27th, the county board had accepted a bid from Mid Plains Construction Co.
