Harriet Steenson visited Marilyn Leslie at Spalding on Tuesday afternoon. Harriet Steenson was an overnight guest of Luanne and Harold Mobley in Omaha on Friday and Saturday.

As of Saturday evening, the South Loup River was up just a bit, at 125 cubic feet per second (cfs), compared to 107 cfs last week. The Middle Loup River at St. Paul was down again this week, running 1,200 cfs, compared to last week, when it was 1,460 cfs. The North Loup River went down to 875 cfs; last week, it was at 1,260 cfs.

Edna (Bahensky) Zuehlke of St. Paul, who is one of the oldest residents of Nebraska, will be 104 years old on October 27th. Edna was born in Gage Valley in 1910 and remembers walking a mile and a half east to country school and coming home to the smell of freshly baked bread. Her mother baked three loaves every day. She traveled west to St. Paul for high school on Highway 92 with her two older brothers, LeRoy, who became a state senator, and Melvin, known as “Doc, the Flying Veterinarian.”
