The volunteer-operated Howard County Medical Center Auxiliary Thrift Shop is preparing for its annual coat giveaway, its eighteenth or nineteenth annual giveaway in its twenty years in operation in St. Paul.

On a cool and windy Thursday morning near the Howard County Fairgrounds—with Howard County officials, Howard County Roads Department employees, employees with Mid Plains Construction, Co., and Project Architect Stacy Spotanski of Spotanski Creative Building Design & Drafting, LLC present—ground was broken on the county’s new roads building and county yards. “This has been a long time coming,” said Howard County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kathy Hirschman in a brief interview following the groundbreaking.

Lego Club, an afterschool offering of the St. Paul Library, held its last semi-monthly meeting of the month of October last Thursday, with a handful of club regulars having turned out to do some spooky, Halloween-themed builds.
