Klein Completes Prep Career at State

Last February, Centura’s Sarah Klein made history after she was the first girl representing a Howard County school to compete at the NSAA State Wrestling Championships in girls’ wrestling. This year, in her final year on the prep stage, Klein made a return trip to the CHI Health Center in Omaha for the state meet, and once again the senior made history.

Centurions Shut Down Bluejays, Advance in Postseason

There were not a lot of unknowns heading into championship game of the D1-9 Subdistrict Tournament. In fact, with the Ravenna Bluejays having beat the Centura girls’ basketball team twice already this season – once in the regular season, and then a week later in the finals of the LouPlatte Conference Tournament– it appeared as if outcome was a foregone conclusion.

Three Wildcats Still in the Hunt for Hardware

Three members of the St. Paul High School wrestling team are slated to represent the Wildcats during Friday night’s blood round of the NSAA State Wrestling Championships.

Kaleb Baker, Alex Meinecke, and Quade Peterson are all still in the running for medals, with Baker being the only member of the Wildcats’ team who still has a shot at earning the gold.

Stromberg Stays Alive in Class D Competition

After the first two rounds of consolation matches on Friday morning, one Class D wrestler from the area remains in the hunt for some hardware.

In one of the final matches of the opening session of Friday’s action at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Palmer senior Jacob Stromberg picked up a late second-period pin opposite Plainview’s Xander Albin. The Tiger’s victory over the Pirate helped Stromberg secure his spot in Friday night’s blood round. Stromberg is currently sitting at 2-1 for the weekend.
