The St. Paul Country Club may not be the most challenging course that the Centura boys’ golf team will play this season, but on Thursday, howling northly winds made the round at the St. Paul Invite a tough one to tackle.

Centurions secure second-place finishes

Caden Ruhl came home from last Thursday’s Ron Priebe Invite at Gibbon with a cache of hardware, including one of the Centurions’ few gold medals. On the track at Gibbon High School, Ruhl paced the field in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, with the senior tackling the timbers in 44.51 to win one of the toughest races of the day.

The Central Valley Cougars owned the sprints at the Shelton Invite, with the Greeley County kids sweeping both the 100- and 200-meter races. On Thursday, Taylor McIntyre scored twenty points for the Cougars, with victories in both the sprints.

A six-team field provided the Centura boys’ and girls’ track teams with multiple chances to rake in hardware last Thursday, and the Burgundy and Grey made the most of the opportunity. Last week, the Centurions battled the wind and five other teams at the Ravenna Invitational.
