As of Sunday morning, the South Loup River is at 181 cfs, compared to 132 cfs last week. The Middle Loup River is at 1170 cfs, compared to 963 cfs last Sunday evening. I guess that little bit of rain made a difference. I’ve not heard as many geese as I had last week. We have one small duck on the pond. We would have asked our good neighbor Bill Lemburg what kind it was, but he passed away at ninety-eight, so now we will have to ask his son Mick to identify the duck. The game cameras show deer moving quite a bit more this week.

The food pantry has been busy these last two months and is still in need of donations. A hot item is pancake mix and syrup, as this makes a great meal for any time of the day. Please drop off your donations during the pantry’s open hours or call (308) 750-6439 for an appointment. They also have one major change for those who participate in the produce pickup, a change to the date of the January Produce Giveaway. It will be Thursday, January 4th, instead of on Wednesday. The board of directors at the Howard Greeley County Food Pantry would like to wish everyone a safe holiday season.
