CREWS BATTLE SUNDAY BLAZE

Body
CREWS from volunteer fire departments from across Howard County battled a structure fire in Farwell on Sunday morning. Farwell Fire Chief Joe Lukasiewicz said that the fire was reported at 10:26 a.m. on Sunday, with the first engine arriving on scene minutes later. When crews arrived, smoke and flames were visible, with the fire chief saying that the building was “fully engulfed” by the time firefighters started pumping water. Crews fought the fire into the afternoon, with the fire marshal also being on scene. The cause of the fire, according to Lukasiewicz, is currently under investigation, but the building is believed to be a total loss. Crews from Farwell, Dannebrog, Boelus, Elba, St. Paul, St. Libory, and Cairo responded to the call.
