Grant to aid city with park improvements, updates

The City of St. Paul recently received an $875,000 award from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s (NDED) Rural Community Recovery Program (RCRP). The city intends to put the funds towards renovating and expanding the tennis courts near Grover Cleveland Alexander Field, removing the skate park north of the St. Paul Water Park and replacing it with a covered picnic shelter and musical instrument playground, and making improvements to the sidewalks in the city parks.

Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2015 Keely Butcher and Emily Houtby of Central Valley High School recently participated in STAR Events (Students taking Action with Recognition) at Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America’s (FCCLA) District IX Competition. Butcher, who is a junior at Central Valley and is the daughter of Ross and Patty Butcher of Greeley, received a Gold medal and was awarded the District Champion medal in the Focus on Children category…Houtby, who is a senior at Central Valley and is the daughter of Brett and Shelly Houtby of Wolbach, received a silver medal and was awarded the District Champion medal in the Job Interview category…Butcher and Houtby advance to the State STAR Completion in Lincoln on April 13th.
