Notes from camp

Body
Last week, I headed off to camp! I would love to say that my duffle bag was filled with my swim trunks, a flashlight, and all the fixings necessary to make some killer s’mores, but that might paint more of a rosy picture of camp than the one I experienced. Let’s just say that, after only about an hour, I was about ready to call my mom for a ride home! In the middle of October, across the Cornhusker State, fall sports seasons are making the rapid transition from regular-season events to postseason competition.

Empowered and hungry

Body
It had been a minute since I had browsed the candy aisle at the local gas station, so a couple of weeks ago, I decided to peruse and see just what exactly was being sold these days. Me, I am a habitual Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup lover, so I rarely look for anything but that bright orange packaging when it comes to selecting my candy of choice.

For a lot of people, if you were asked to think about the year 2010, there is a good chance that a litany of headline-making events would come to the forefront of your mind. Haiti was devastated by an earthquake just a handful of days into the year, Steve Jobs and Apple announced the launch of the first iPad in the spring, thirty-three Chilean miners got trapped and were miraculously rescued late in the summer, and just before Christmas, the Big 12 gave Husker fans a going- away gift we will never forget, a gut-wrenching loss to Oklahoma in the conference championship game.
