The Wolbach Senior Citizens met on September 25th to play cards. The group had eleven card players. Paul Nielsen won high, Jan Steenson low, and Dick Peetz traveling. The Wolbach Senior Citizens will meet again on October 30th.
Junk Jaunt in Wolbach a success

Wolbach’s twentieth year of Junk Jaunt was a success. There were visitors from seventy-six towns from Nebraska that organizers of this year’s event in Wolbach were able to catch, with several first-timers. Visitors also came from fourteen different states, with seven states being represented multiple times. There was also a visitor from Cuba.

Commissioners discuss immigration designation

During the September 24th meeting of the Howard County Board of Commissioners, members of the board spent about ten minutes addressing an agenda item entitled Sanctuary Jurisdiction for Immigrants. During the brief item, the commissioners attempted to clear up any confusion about county’s status as a “sanctuary jurisdiction.”

Ten Years Ago, 2014 The eleventh annual Junk Jaunt brought many visitors to Howard County and central Nebraska. They were welcomed guests to the area, but the word was out: “Driver beware!” There were many reports of near accidents as people unfamiliar with the roads made sudden stops and turns on the highways and streets in the county!
