Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2015 Wolbach native Joe Killinger, a 1982 graduate of Wolbach High School, will be honored by the Los Angeles City Council for the innovative housing/educational program he founded. Killinger’s program was featured in an article in the Los Angeles Times in which he credits the experience in his hometown as the basis for the program.

It’s cold out there, although the geese don’t seem to mind. I’m scooping snow and they are landing on the ice of the pond. The Loup River is frozen over at our house, except for a small open stream. I’m sure most of the rivers are, and this week looks to keep it that way. I checked the gauge height in feet, and all three rivers were normal. Although, when I walked past our airboat inlet to the river, it was higher than normal.

Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul recently announced that it has been named among the 2025 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Chartis’ annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX.
