Ten Years Ago, 2013 (Reprinted with permission from The Greeley Citizen.) The Greeley County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on Tuesday afternoon at Greeley regarding a special use permit for GGPLC (PST) to operate two evaporative ponds at the Wolbach Foods hog confinement site west of Wolbach…The ponds are used to allow the evaporation of hog effluent, the more liquid content skimmed off waste lagoons where the hog manure is collected from the confinement buildings… In attendance for the applicant included Steve Massman, attorney from Lincoln; Jim Pillen, PST; Jum Bulkley, PST; and environmental consultant Dean Settje of Raymond…After much testimony, Chairman Leo Reilly moved and Board Member Michael Goldfish seconded approving the ponds. The Greeley-Wolbach and North Loup-Scotia school boards are continuing to work toward an interlocal agreement that would allow the students from both schools to attend school together this fall.
