Delores Jean Christensen was born on August 11, 1927 at St. Paul to Ardre and Veronica (Rojewski) Roshone. As a young girl, she lived with her parents and brother, Bob, on the Markvicka place west of St. Paul, until moving in 1935, at the age of seven, to the Lambert Ranch northwest of Palmer. She attended Palmer School and, in 1944, moved with her family to Newcastle, Wyoming, where her father worked on the MW Ranch. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1944. In April 1945, the family moved back to Palmer. There, Jean worked for Dr. J. Y. Racines, as well as for Ihler Drugstore. On November 26, 1947, Jean married Albert Christensen at Mitchell, Nebraska. They farmed north of Palmer, where she was Albert’s “right hand man,” raised three daughters, gardened, canned, butchered, and sewed. She enjoyed being part of a local extension club, being on a bowling league, and belonging to the Wolbach Saddle Club. After retiring from farming, they moved to St. Paul and started St. Paul Real Estate and Auction. Jean also opened Grandma’s Cottage, selling home décor items. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
