Norman Takes Over Ownership of St. Paul Pet Salon

Body
A longstanding St. Paul business got a new name earlier this year when, in early August, Tabitha’s Pet Salon at 704 Howard Avenue became Pups n’ Suds Spa. The new name marked a change in ownership, as longtime owner Stephanie Webb stepped away from the business to pursue other interests. However, new owner Jordan Norman said Monday that dog owners throughout Howard County and beyond should expect to see the same quality of service.

St. Paul Police Partners with Safety Council

Body
The St. Paul Police Department is partnering with the National Child Safety Council in the Child Safety, Drug, and Crime Prevention Educational Program. Through this program, the local police department will be able to provide numerous educational materials for children in preschool and older, including materials on drug and crime prevention, identity theft, internet safety, and safety information for senior citizens. These materials have been designed exclusively by the National Child Safety Council, the largest and longest-serving not for-profit organization dedicated to child safety in the nation. In order to cover the cost of these materials, the St. Paul Police Department will be contacting business, professional, and civic leaders to help financially sponsor the program. Since the National Child Safety Council is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, all contributions are tax deductible. As acknowledgment of your support, all sponsors will be listed on the prestige page of all activity manuals and magazines. The St. Paul Police Department would like to thank you in advance for your concerned support, and we look forward to participating in this program.

Happ-enings

Body
Michael Happ • P-H Publisher I have long joked that, when it came to God making me, he used all the parts from the spare parts bin. I don’t have perfect eyesight, my hearing is subpar—that is what happens when your parents raise you in a bar—I’m on my third kidney, and, on a good day, I top out at 5’6”; that is, if I really stretch.

As of Sunday evening, the South Loup River was running almost the same as last week, 121 cubic feet per second (cfs), and the Middle Loup River at St. Paul was down some from last week, with a reading of 1,210 cfs. Moses had a fun week. He went to school with Lisa on Wednesday and then visited some people with Paul on Thursday. Saturday was his eleventh birthday, so we celebrated with birthday cake on Sunday at church. Moses has a special diet due to some stomach issues he has. One thing on his “can eat list” is venison. It doesn’t happen very often, but Shawn got a deer with this bow as a birthday gift for Moses. He will enjoy it with his dog food for several weeks to come. Hunting is what’s happening on the Loup River. There are a few duck and goose hunters out and I’m still trying to get a deer with my bow. It’s peaceful watching the sun rise and the animals and birds waking up. I enjoy the quiet of the morning. What surprised me was, about a half hour after sunrise, the coyotes really started howling. There were two groups making sure the other group knew where they were at. (I thought they howled in the evenings, so I learned something.) I’ve heard several groups of Sandhill Cranes flying over. They are headed south for the winter, just like some people I know.
