Well, it’s that time of the year, and with the temperatures being so cold, all the river cubic-feet-per-second (cfs) readings are listed as ICE. No readings this week for the South, Middle, or North Loup rivers. The geese are back again in the pond and pasture. The game camera pictures with the snow in the background make the deer and bobcat even more outstanding than usual. We had a family of trumpeter swans on our pond Sunday around noon, the parents and three youngsters. They are such a sight.

McKeon looks to learn in freshman year

The first session of the State of Nebraska’s 109th Legislature got underway on Wednesday morning, with representatives of the state’s legislative districts sworn into office and officially inducted into their duties as state legislators. In an interview last Friday, just five days before the start of the session, Dan McKeon, newly elected state senator for Nebraska’s 41st Legislative District, said he was about as ready as he would ever be.
