Norma Jean “Jeanie” Glause
Norma Jean “Jeanie” Glause, 87, of Palmer, died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Matelyn Retirement Community in St. Paul, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Reverend Craig Neimeier officiated.
Kenyon Seim was the organist.
Congregational hymns included “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “The Lamb,” “Chief of Sinners Though I Be,” and “Go My Children, With My Blessing.”
Casketbearers included Randy Glause, Galen Glause, Aaron Glause, Kevin Glause, Brian Glause, Nathan Glause, and Clayton Glause.
Honorary bearers were Cynthia Saltzgaber, Joy Langrehr, Elaine Glause, Amy Harper, Dawn Bunner, and Penny Price.
Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms.
Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or Grand Island Lutheran High School.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Jeanie was born August 27, 1938, on a family farm in Otoe County, the daughter of Henry and Ruby (Schmidt) Homfeld. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended country school near her home before moving with her family to Grand Island in 1951. Jeanie graduated from Grand Island Senior High with the Class of 1956 and later worked at a local café and the Grand Theatre.
She was united in marriage to Loy Glause on March 2, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
Jeanie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, gardening, and making sweets for her grandchildren. She especially loved playing games with them and attending their activities. She was an avid wrestling fan and took great pride in following her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was also a talented seamstress who made dresses for the girls and even neckties for the boys.
Jeanie was a devoted and extremely active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, where she participated in Bible study groups, Ladies Aid, LWML, LLL, and the quilting group. Jeanie was always ready to lend a hand and serve in any way she could for her church family.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Cynthia and Chris Saltzgaber of Erie, Colorado; Randy Glause of Grand Island; Kevin and Sharon Glause of Palmer; Amy and Craig Harper of Prole, Iowa; Galen Glause of Palmer; Brian and Dorothea Glause of St. Libory; Joy and Bill Langrehr of St. Libory; Aaron and Michelle Glause of Malcom; Dawn and James Bunner of Clarkson; Nathan and Michelle Glause of Palmer; Elaine Glause of Grand Island; Clayton and Amy Glause of Fremont; and Penny and Darren Price of Hastings; former daughterin- law, Jackie Glover of Doniphan; forty grandchildren; sixty-three great- grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Ossana Schales of Hurricane, Utah, Charlene and Gary Peterson of Grand Island, and Donna and Ken Noel of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Andy and Janette Glause of St. Libory and Paul and Marie Glause of St. Libory; and sister-in-law, Naomi Rouse of Tucson, Arizona.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loy Glause on April 12, 2010; daughterin- law, Sheri Glause; great-grandson, Joshua Langrehr; sisters, Shirley and Norman Stelk and Rosalie and Roger Roscoe; and in-laws, Philip William and Stella (Wagner) Glause, Billy Glause, Clayton Glause, Verona and Leroy Seim, Larry and Myrna Glause, Gene Glause, Janice Wieck, Robert Rouse, Larry Ossana, and E.J. Schales.
