Kenneth Lee Jons, 96, of Kearney, formerly of St. Paul, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney.

Graveside services with military honors were held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Ken was born on January 31, 1929, to George and Hilda (Vetter) Jons, in Bonesteel, South Dakota. He grew up in and received his education in South Dakota, where he farmed. He was also a welder and worked in construction for many years. Ken served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. He was united in marriage to JoAnn (Wagner) Switzer- Jons on February 14, 2003. The couple enjoyed going to dances and playing cards with friends. They were members of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Whatever they did, they did it together!

Those left to cherish Ken’s memory include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Jeanne Jons of Minden, Larry and Maxine Jons of Axtell, and Bob and Pam Jons of Holdrege; seven grandchildren, Sadie, Emma, Ryall, Stacy, Shelbey, Tanner, and Jacey; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Marjorie Schochemier of Bonestill.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Jons; sister, Alvera Petersen; and two stillborn siblings.
