James S. “Jamie” Smith
James S. “Jamie” Smith, 69, of St. Paul died Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Vincent L. Parsons was the celebrant. Inurnment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley.

Jamie was born October 6, 1955, in Greeley, the son of Lawrence E. and Shirley M. (Butcher) Smith. Jamie grew up in Greeley, attending Sacred Heart School and graduating from Greeley High School in 1974. He continued his education at Denver Culinary School, followed by Joseph School of Beauty in Grand Island.
Jamie worked as a hair stylist before beginning his career with Monfort and later Case New Holland in Grand Island. Jamie worked in maintenance for St. Paul Public School, retiring in 2023. He honed his cooking skills working at St. Paul’s American Legion Club and Jim’s Truck Stop.
Jamie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, cooking, and traveling.
He will be missed by his children, JJ (Candi Hickey) Smith of Lincoln, Stuart Smith of St. Paul, and Melissa Graves of North Loup; grandchildren, Mckylie Smith, Daphne Smith, Gage (Katherine) Smith, Hailee Smith, Tyson Smith, Nolan Smith, Adisyn Smith, Alandra Luby, and Autumn Luby; brother, Tom Smith of Greeley and Paul (Lisa) Smith of Kenesaw; sister, Karen (Jim) Bernt of Greeley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jamie was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Shirley Smith, and a brother, Matthew Smith.
