Franklin Stahlnecker, Jr.
Franklin Dwaine Stahlnecker, Jr., 73, of St. Paul passed away on June 15, 2024 at his home.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Scott Jones of Third City Christian Church officiated.
Recorded selection included “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin.
Honorary bearers included Patrick Vander-Linden, Jason VanderLinden, Krystal Corneliusen, Meghan Petersen, Amie Splattstoesser, and Sarah Degollado.
Inurnment will be at a later date in the new State Veterans Cemetery in Grand Island, when it is completed.
Memorials are suggested to the Crossroads Mission of Grand Island.
Peters Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Frank was born on August 21, 1950 in Grand Island to Franklin Dwaine Stahlnecker, Sr. and Hazel (McQueen). He grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Public Schools. He was confirmed in the eighth grade at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. As an adult, he was baptized in the Baptist church. He entered the Navy in 1969. He worked most of his life as a painter. He enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, and John Wayne memorabilia, and gardening.
He leaves behind two sisters and one brotherin- law, Linda Theodore of Glendive, Montana and Jeff and Dawn Splattstoesser of Grand Island; four nieces; two nephews; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Franklin and Helen Stahlnecker; his grandparents, Al and Inez Stahlnecker; brother in-law, Dave Theodore; and several aunts and uncles.
