Douglas “Fuzzy” W. Fousek, 72, of Elba, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at his home.

Family members greeted friends on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Jacobsen- Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Jeanie Lepper provided words of comfort. Pallbearers included Bill Fousek, Cole Fousek, Clint Fousek, Josh Fousek, Mike Rice, and Gene Rice. A private interment will be held in the Scott Hill Cemetery in Elba. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Doug was born on July 16, 1951 to Dale and Tina (Hloucha) Fousek in Mitchell, South Dakota. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. He grew up in Palmer and graduated from Central City High School in 1969. Doug married Martha “Marti” Spilinek on September 2, 1980 in St. Paul. He farmed his entire life, with Marti by his side, while raising their children, Chance and Jackie. They especially enjoyed following the grandkids with their many activities. He loved his tractors and enjoyed tinkering around the farm. He could fix anything. He enjoyed air boating, fishing (especially off the air boat), playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He belonged to the Central Nebraska Antique Tractor Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marti Fousek of Elba; son and daughter- in-law, Chance and Tiffany Fousek of Elba; daughter and son-in-law, Gabe and Jackie Haecker of Lincoln; grandchildren, Harper, Jamisyn, The Phonograph-Herald | April 10, 2024

and Paxton Fousek, all of Elba, and Gabriel Jr., Grayson, Lincoln, and Cadence Haecker, all of Lincoln; brothers and spouses, Randy and Marcie Fousek of Arizona, Clint and Lori Fousek of Chapman, Bill and Chris Fousek of St. Paul; sisters and spouses, Shelly and Scott Haller of Archer, Cindy and Gina Fousek of Cedar Rapids; sisterin- law, Becky Fousek of California; Pennsylvania family; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Fousek.
