Delia R. DeMary Passes at Age 78

Delia “Dee” R. DeMary, 78, of Central City, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at CHI Health – St. Francis in Grand Island.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Jacobsen-Greenway- Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Reverend Jim Garfield officiated. Music selections included “When I’m Gone,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Jealous Of The Angels.” Pallbearers included Dereck Fishler, Jacob Fishler, Jordan Fishler, Trey Fishler, Wesley Fishler, Logan Pump, Dalton Pump, and Colton DeMary. Honorary pallbearers included Ariel Paup, Arianna Hoffnan, and Lexi Fishler. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Delia “Dee” DeMary was born on September 6, 1944 in Ainsworth, to Clifford and Beverly (Conrad) Edwards. She attended St. Paul Public School and graduated in 1962. She met her husband to be, Paul DeMary, at a diner in St. Paul, and they were married on February 3, 1963.

Delia had a love for baking, sewing, and sea salt caramels. She had a passion for helping people and volunteering where needed. She was a guardian for clients of Mid Nebraska Individual Services. She collected “Denim Days” figurines.

She was survived by her husband of sixty years, Paul DeMary, Central City; son, Paul (Tracy) DeMary, Belle Fourche, South Dakota; daughters, Paula (Mark) Sargent, Grand Island, Kelley Kai Central City, and Keri DeMary, Central City; brother, Clifford (Janice) Edwards, Bavaria, Kansas; a sister, Carol Hyman, Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Derek Fishler, Jacob and Heather Fishler, Jordon and Tara Fishler, Arianna and Adam Hoffman, Logan and Miriah Paup, Dalton and Jess Paup, Ariel Paup and Cam Sciuga, and Colton DeMary; great-grandchildren, Nolan Litchfield, Lexi Fishler, Trey Fishler, Wesley Fishler, Ryder Paup, Royce Paup, Adaline Paup, Ellis Paup, Amelia Paup, Adam “A.J.” Hoffman, and Audie Hoffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Beverly Edwards; a brother, Daniel Edwards, brother-in-law, Gail Hyman; and grandchild, Gaberial Fishler.
