Body

Connie Jacobson passed away on September 24, 2026, at CHI Health—St. Francis in Grand Island. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated and mourning will be a private family matter.

Connie was born on a farm south of Boelus on August 30, 1943, to Clair and Louise Ruzicka Stubbs. Since she was a “war baby,” her father, serving in the First Cavalry in the Pacific, wasn’t able to meet his daughter until he was released from the Army in October of 1945.

Connie grew up in Boelus, graduating as class valedictorian in 1961. She was both Harvest of Harmony Queen and Howard County Queen in 1960. Connie did not go to college but went to CE School of Commerce in Omaha, completing the one-year course in six months.

She married John R. Jacobson of Omaha in 1963, and a son, Jason, joined the family in 1968. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1991, and she did not choose to remarry.

Connie began her career in Omaha, rising to a management position with the John Hancock Insurance Agency in short order and on to vice presidency of Continental General Insurance Company.

The Jacobson family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1980, where, after a brief stint in pension administration, she changed to a banking career. Mrs. Jacobson was chief financial officer of Western Security Bank for seventeen years, moving to chief administrative officer as the bank prepared for her retirement. She was listed in Arizona Who’s Who of Women in Business for many of those years.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brothers, Brian and Kent Stubbs.

Surviving to preserve her memory are her son, Jason “Jake” Jacobson; grandson, Jason Wyatt Jacobson; Brian’s children, Ashley Stubbs Knight and Jared Stubbs; and numerous cousins.
