Charles Thomas Tockey
Charles “Chuck” Thomas Tockey, 80, of Sutton was called home on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at CHI Health – St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Boelus Community Center in Boelus. Chuck and Betty will be celebrated. Memorials and flowers are directed to the family in care of Teresa Tockey, 907 North Saunders Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska 68901.
Chuck was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan on December 7, 1943 to Charles “Chick” and Elanore Tockey. The family moved to Boelus, and then several other locations in Nebraska. In 1959, the family moved to Garden Grove, California. Chuck joined the United States Navy in 1961 for a short time. He met his wife, Betty J. Nash, at a carnival. Chuck lived in several cities in southern California, and then Twin Falls, Idaho for a short time. Finally, the family moved to Boelus, and other towns in Nebraska.
Chuck was a skilled welder and fabricator. Chuck had several jobs, but the job he liked best was being a big rig driver. He also loved to work on old cars. Chuck collected eagles and Americana items, as well as having a passion for art.
Chuck is survived by his children, Robert D. Tockey of Fairfield; Charles T. Tockey of Hastings; James J. Tockey and wife, Lena of Hastings; Teresa L. Tockey and husband, Ray, of Hastings; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers, Terry and Clemintine Tockey of Lompoc, California, and Steven Tockey of Boelus.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Chick” Tockey and Eleanore Tockey; wife of sixty years, Betty; and brothers, Richard L. Tockey and Philip A. Tockey.
