Arlene Rae Jepson 86, of Grand Island, formerly of Cushing, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Grand Island. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Arlene was born August 15, 1938, at Palmer, to Paul and Bernice (Burkman) Ewers. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Jepson on July 15, 1955. The union was blessed with four children.

Arlene spent many years as a business owner with her husband. Those businesses included a gas station, restaurant, and shoe store. Other jobs she held included working in the Skagway Deli, Community Action Program, Avon Representative, and Wieser’s, a job she absolutely loved. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook, especially fried chicken, the greasier the better. She loved the springtime, the beautiful flowers, her beloved dog Benji, watching the birds in her bird feeder, listening to the “old” country music, and watching TV especially Reba, The Golden Girls, The Voice, and Hallmark movies.

Family was very important to Arlene and she was a strong woman of strong faith. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include her children, Sandy Jensen of Grand Island, Sheryl (Tim) Wozny of Lexington, Rick Jepson of Grand Island, and Randy (Julie) Jepson of Grand Island: six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brothers and sistersin law Paul (Dick) (Vicki) Ewers of Grand Island; sister and brother-in-law Cindi (Mark) Mendyk of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Anita Jepson of St. Paul; two granddaughters she raised, Amanda (Travis) Baetz and Ashlee (Manuel) Gaspar, both of Grand Island; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; in-laws, Orval and Mae (Luddington) Jepson; son-in-law, Ted Jensen; sister and brother-inlaw, Shirley (Ken) Buck; brother and sister-in-law, Gene (Patricia) Ewers; brother-in-law and sisterin- law, Mervin and Bonnie Hansen; sister-in-law, JoAnn Roberts; brotherin- law, Larry Jepson; and nephews, Michael Buck and baby Hansen.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
