Anita was born on April 29, 1940, in St. Paul, the daughter of Floyd and Erma (Grossart) McLain. She was raised in Washington state, but moved back to St. Paul, where she graduated from St. Paul High School in May 1958. She then attended Kearney State College for one year.
Anita was united in marriage to Larry G. Jepson on June 21, 1959, in St. Paul. The couple first lived in Grand Island but returned to St. Paul in 1966. Anita worked for the Howard County Treasurer and the Howard County Assessor until she and Larry purchased the Circle J Drive Inn in March of 1972. They operated it together until selling the drive-inn on October 1, 1991. At that time, she began working for Pamela M. Baker, CPA, in St. Paul and, in 1996, she worked for McDermott and Miller in Grand Island. On November 18, 1997, Anita became employed by the City of St. Paul and retired from the city on January 1, 2007.
Anita and Larry were blessed with twin sons, Terry and Todd, and a daughter, Lori. Anita’s family meant the world to her, and she was always there for all of them. If any of the grandchildren had a sporting event you would find her there.
Anita was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and became an EMT for the St. Paul Rescue Squad in 1986. She had a great passion for the citizens of St. Paul and was very proud to serve as an EMT. She also enjoyed volunteering for the baseball association and the Howard County Medical Center.
