Alda M. Boehle
Alda M. Boehle, 98, of St. Libory, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in St. Paul, surrounded by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Libory’s Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Reverend Sidney B. Bruggeman celebrated the Mass. Deacon Don Placke assisted.
Scott Watters and Matt Boehle were the lectors.
Luke Heaton was the Eucharistic minister.
Gavin Rolf and Nolan Rolf were the altar servers.
Kim Placke was the pianist. Cathy Wieck was the soloist.
Selections included “Be Not Afraid,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Servant Song,” “Song of Farewell,” and “Lead Me, Lord.”
Casketbearers were Teresa Watters, Michael Boehle, Jon Boehle, Mary Rolf, David Boehle, Matt Boehle, Sarah Pool, Chris Boehle, Monica Warner, and Jared Boehle.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Alda was born on April 27, 1927, on the family farm in the Dannevirke and Cotesfield area, the daughter of Robert M. and Anna M. (Mortensen) Nielsen.
She began her education in Howard County rural schools, later attending St. Paul Public School and working as a nanny for the Hank Rasmussen family. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Paul High School.
Alda was united in marriage to Charles B. Boehle on October 8, 1947, at St. Libory. The couple lived and farmed on the Boehle family farm.
In 1964, she began working as a waitress at Dreisbach’s Steakhouse. She was there for thirty- three years, before retiring in 1996. Charlie died on February 18, 2001, and Alda continued to live on the farm with her son, Joe.
She was a member of St. Libory’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, the St. Libory Card Club, a former member of Eagles Aerie 378 of Grand Island, and served on the St. Libory Election Board for many years.
Alda enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy and sheep’s head, Bingo, betting on the horses at Fonner Park, and she loved to play the one-arm bandits!
She is survived by five sons: Bob and Jan Boehle of St. Paul, Tim and Jane Boehle of Grand Island, Gary and Pam Boehle of Wayne, Doug and Susy Boehle of Phillips, and Joe Boehle of St. Libory; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Nielsen and Jackie Nielsen, both of St. Libory.
In addition to her husband, Charlie, she was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anna Nielsen; sisters, Annabell and Quentin Lynch, Mary Jane and Alphonse Trentman, and Norma and Doyle Funderburg; five brothers, Arild Dean Nielsen, Donald Nielsen, Mick Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, and Wilbur Nielsen and his wife, Connie; in-laws, Frank and Mary Boehle; sister-in-law and spouse, Florence and Fred Meinke; and brother-in-law and spouse, Louie and Arlene Boehle.
