Larry H. Obermiller, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Dannebrog, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.

A memorial service was held on February 12th at All Faiths Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Carlson officiating. Memorials will be determined by the family at a later date. Burial with military honors took place at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. A luncheon followed in Dannebrog.

Obermiller was born August 3, 1932, to Emil and Anna (Hagmann) Obermiller on the family farm in rural Dannebrog. Larry spent his childhood on the family farm five miles west of Dannebrog and attended a rural country school. Larry served four years in the United States Air Force, enlisting on January 15, 1953, and was honorably discharged on January 14, 1957.

On June 6, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Arlene Rosella Steinbach. To this union, six children were born. They moved to the family farm in 1969 and upon retirement to Grand Island in 2013. Larry spent his life farming and raising cattle. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion, and the Platt-Duetsche. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, playing cards, and going to casinos. At seventy-five years old, he decided to take up golf, which he continued to play until age ninety.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-six years, Arlene Obermiller; children, Julie (Kelly) Boyden of York, Kay (Jeff) Ballard of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Lori (Bryce) Royle of Dannebrog, Kelli (Chuck) Eubanks of Cambridge, Roger (April) Obermiller of Willis, Texas, and Janet (Jeff) Buhrman of St. Libory; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Stutzman and Connie (Darrel) Anderson; sisters in-law, Betty Lou, Vicki, and Vange Obermiller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, infant Virgil, Delvin (Mary), Gailord (Leona), Don (Doris), Paul, Harold (Bonnie), Jim (Beth) and Emil Jr. Obermiller; sister, Darlene (Gerard) Eilenstine; parents in-law, Henry and Rose Steinbach; sister in-law, Mary (Todd) Muirhead; and a brotherin- law, Larry Stutzman.
