George Hamilton, 87, of Elba, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home.

A time to greet the family and sign the guestbook was held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Jacobsen- Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. A celebration of George’s life followed at the funeral home.

Pastor Serene Samuel provided words of comfort.

Musical selections included “When We All Get to Heaven” and “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.”

A private burial of ashes will be held later at the Elba Cemetery in Elba. Memorials are suggested to the Elba Fire and Rescue.

George was born October 14, 1937, in Grafton, North Dakota, to Walter and Gladys (Spicer) Hamilton. He was raised and received his education in the North Dakota area.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Newton on November 19, 1957 in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Shortly after their marriage in 1959, the couple moved to Elba.

George was a long-standing beekeeper, owning and operating his business, Hamilton Honey, alongside his wife and children.

George liked to gamble and travel. He enjoyed their trips to Colorado, and especially loved to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his two sons, Gary Hamilton of Elba and Mark Hamilton and his wife Trina of Kearney; three daughters, Sherryl Coufal and her husband Garland of Cotesfield, Susan Markvicka of St. Paul, and Cindy Lopez of Elba; seventeen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Hamilton of the Netherlands and Clara Jean Weber of Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hamilton; parents, Walter and Gladys Hamilton; a son, Rick Hamilton; and three brothers, Russell, Gorden, and Kenneth Hamilton.
