Shirley Boltz, 88, of Dannebrog, died on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Bryan Grand Island Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome. com.

Shirley was born on August 27, 1936, in Seneca, to James and Martha (Keller) Maddox. She grew up near Palmer and attended St. Paul High School, graduating in 1954. She then attended Grand Island Business College and worked at Bausch and Lomb for Dr. Grange.

She was united in marriage to Edward Boltz on May 4, 1958, at Palmer, after which the couple farmed near Dannebrog.

Shirley was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Platte Duetsche, where she enjoyed playing cards, and the Cleveland Social Club. She loved music and playing the organ, as well as getting together with her sisters and cousins.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Deb Stoltenberg) Boltz, Allen (Pui) Boltz, and Danny (Terri) Boltz; son-in-law, Rob Serr; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Wiegert, Betty Holt, Ramona Swanson, and Sharon (Bud) Oakeson; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Maddox, Eleanor Anderson, and Lorraine Boltz.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Tammy; brother, Richard Maddox; sister, Gwenlee Main; brothersin- law, Delbert Wieger, Daryl Holt, Milton Swanson, Leonard Boltz, and Gene Anderson; and sister-in-law, Phyllis (Herb) Hedstrom.
