Daniel R. “Dan” Gorecki, 68, of Farwell, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. The Reverends Vince Parsons, Richard Piontkowski, and Alex Borzych concelebrated the Mass.

The Alan and Joleen Lewandowski family sang.

Selections included “Lead Me Lord,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Shepperd Me, O God,” Here I Am Lord,” “The Lord is My Hope,” and “Song of Farewell.”

Recorded selections included “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by Vince Gill and “Broken Halos” by Chris Stapleton.

Ron Gorecki, Cindy Gorecki, and Phil Lukasiewicz were the lectors. Rick Gorecki and Terry Gorecki were the Eucharistic Ministers.

Gift bearers included Makenz Gorecki, Michelle Rogers-Lech, Melinda Kroeger, Jackie Gorecki, Callie Gorecki, Teresa Gorecki, Tiffany Burton, and Patty Gorecki.

Casketbearers included Michael Gorecki, Matt Gorecki, Braden Gorecki, Kolby Gorecki, Tyler Gorecki, and Trevor Gorecki.

Honorary bearers were Jason Rogers and Nathan Rogers.

Burial was in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery near Farwell.

Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Dan was born on July 6, 1955, in Grand Island, the son of Leonard and Josephine (Waltman) Gorecki. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Boelus, attended St. Anthony’s parochial school, and was a 1973 graduate of Centura High School. Upon completing his education, he began farming, which he was still doing at the time of his death. He had also worked at the Boelus Grain Elevator years ago and had also sold seed to area farmers. He had also cooked and bartended at Ron & Company in St. Paul and at Gin’s Tavern in Rockville for a number of years.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had served on the parish council and cemetery board. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1918.

Dan enjoyed raising chickens and sold his eggs to many local people and businesses. He also enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for his friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews, who were like his children.

He is survived by his four brothers and sistersin- law, Ron and Jackie Gorecki and Terry and Teresa Gorecki, all of Dannebrog, Rick and Cindy Gorecki of Boelus, and Larry and Patty Gorecki also of Dannebrog; thirteen nieces and nephews, Tyler Gorecki, Tiffany Burton, Trevor Gorecki, Branden Gorecki, Makenz Gorecki, Kolby Gorecki, Michael Gorecki, Melinda Kroeger, Matt Gorecki, Callie Gorecki, Jason Rogers, Michelle Rogers-Leck, and Nathan Rogers; and he was a godfather to Michael Gorecki, Kolby Gorecki, Tyler Gorecki, Jenny Nickel, and Marie Wilkinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Gorecki; and grandparents, Joseph and Prudence Gorecki and George and Anna Waltman.
