James “Jim” E. Jares, 79, of St. Paul, died on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in St. Paul.

A celebration of Jim’s life was held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Jacobsen- Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Val Killinger provided words of comfort. Musical selection was “Peace In The Valley.” Inurnment was in the National Bohemian Cemetery in Elba. A fellowship followed at Shannon’s Grill in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Jim was born to Edward and Lizzie (Tuma) Jares in Elba. He had two siblings, Maxine Jares and Mary Ann Jares. He attended rural schools near Elba, and then graduated high school from St. Paul High School in 1963. He was a ditch rider at the Farwell Irrigation District for numerous years. His hobbies included playing cards, bingo, and visiting with friends and staff at the Office Bar and Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Kevin Collins; close friends, Jody and Dave Mrkvicka, Dave Leschinsky, Larry McClure, Jerry and Barb Sack, Char and Bill Morgan, Clint Wrzesinski, and Melissa Butts.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Maxine and Mary Ann.
