Body

A handsome man with a warm heart and playful personality, Dennis J. Meston passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 18, 2023.

Born on October 8, 1942, in St. Paul, to Lawrence “Johnny” and Leona (Wohlers) Meston, Dennis graduated from St. Paul Public High School in 1960.

His life’s work revolved around surveying, civil engineering, and construction supervision. Starting with the county road maintenance unit in Nebraska, he subsequently worked for the state roads department in Lincoln, then on civil engineering in Rapid City, South Dakota. He moved to Everett, Washington in 1973 and settled on an acreage outside Marysville, Washington in 1977, where he lived until his death. In this area, he worked as a construction supervisor, building public parks and ballfields, and started his own landscape construction business in 1982. He enjoyed working as a site inspector for Snohomish County from 1990 to 2007, when he retired.

Dennis loved the outdoors and all of nature, themes reflected in his many art pursuits, including drawing, painting, wood carving and repurposing of natural materials. He also loved family, friends, and going out dancing with his wife.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife of forty years, Janet (Lutz) Meston; his children, Sarah (Meston) Tsuchiya, Cooper Meston (Mariah), and Logan Meston; his grandsons, Kaleo Tsuchiya and Ballard Meston; and dog, Chester. He will also be missed by his brother Larry Meston (Lonna), sister Connie Vincent (Dennis) and his niece and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.
