Jacquetta Roux
Jacquetta Kay (Jurzenski) Roux, 72, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of central Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, surrounded by her family, at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Reverend Sheri Lodel officiated. Recorded selections included “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me, “Scars In Heaven” by Casting Crowns, and “The Prayer” by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Burial was in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Casket bearers included Justin Roux, Steve Mostek, Jared Roux, Joel Mostek, Rocke Jurzenski, and Brad Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers included Jennifer Roux, Jolee Roux, Jaynie Roux, Ashley Mostek, and Tiffany Sturm.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Jackie was born on November 21, 1950, in St. Paul, the daughter of Jack B. and Beverly J. (Johnson) Jurzenski. She grew up on a farm in the Palmer area and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1969.
She was united in marriage to John P. Roux on January 25, 1976 in St. Paul. Their first son, Jason, was born in August of 1976, followed by Justin in September 1978. The couple first lived in Grand Island, where Jason passed away on Good Friday of 1979. They later moved to Omaha, where they lived for a couple of years. In 1981, the family moved to Kearney, where Jared was born in October 1987, and, in 1991, they all moved to Littleton, Colorado.
John died on August 25, 2003. Jackie continued to live in Colorado the rest of her life, where she enjoyed watching her sons and granddaughters grow up.
Jackie was a classy woman who loved fashion, fragrance, dancing, socializing, hosting parties, chocolate, and cough drops.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Justin and Jennifer Roux of Aurora, Colorado and Jared Roux of Denver, Colorado; two granddaughters, Jaynie and Jolee Roux of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Rocke Jurzenski and Becky Fisher of Grand Island; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Steve Mostek of Grand Island; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason Roux; and grandparents, Alfred Johnson and Elfie Johnson Svoboda and Peter Jurzenski and Frances Jurzenski Wagner.
