Mildred Ridgway Passes at Age 97

Mildred Eloise Ridgway, 97, of St. Paul, died on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. Pastor Lisa Ewald officiated. Val Killinger served as the pianist and Vicki Nielsen served as the soloist. Musical selections included “God’s Tomorrow” and “Beyond the Sunset”.

Interment was in the Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield. Pallbearers were Mildred’s grandchildren: Chad, Todd, Eulalia, Bianca, Tara, Blake, and Kelsey.

Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul EMTs, Howard County Medical Center Foundation, or the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul.

Mildred was born on June 6, 1925, in Fairfield, to Theodore and Blanche (Mock) Walther. She was also baptized and raised in Fairfield, and graduated in 1943. She was united in marriage to Rolland Ridgway on August 5, 1946 in Fairfield. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Fairfield American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her quilting group, sewing, traveling with her husband’s job, and being a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Cheryl Ridgway of Littleton, Colorado, Ronald Ridgway of Oceanside, California, and Robert and Sharon Ridgway of West Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law, Bill Ridgway of Fairfield; grandchildren, Chad and Laura Ridgway, Todd Ridgway, Eulalia Cusimano and Nelson Guipta, Bianca and Nate Peterson, Tara and Chen Liang, Blake and Lauren Ridgway, and Kelsey Ridgway; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolland; son, Rick Ridgway; and half-sister, Dannie Jungclaus.
