Alice Mickelsen Passes at Age 78
Alice Irene Mickelsen, 78, of Grand Island, residing at Riverside Lodge, passed away on June 16, 2022 at CHI Health - St Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Graveside services were held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. Pastor Sheri Lodel officiated. Pallbearers were Branden Wagner and Jason Keezer.
A viewing was held on Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway–Dietz Funeral Home in St Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
Alice was born in Dannebrog on August 7, 1943 to Annie and Clarence Mickelsen. She graduated high school in 1962 from Dannebrog. She attended nursing school in Kearney. Alice received her LPN nursing license in 1964. Alice was a neonatal nurse throughout her nursing career. Alice enjoyed her career and took great joy in taking care of infants until her retirement. Alice spent her retirement enjoying her dogs and watching sports, her favorite teams being the Huskers and the Broncos
Ṡhe lived in many different communities, including San Diego, California; Denver, Colorado; and Las Vegas, Nevada. She settled in Grand Island in 2005, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Alice is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Gaylord and Judy Mickelsen of Mesquite, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice has been welcomed into heaven by her parents, Annie and Clarence Mickelsen; brothers, Clarence Mickelsen, Jr., Lyle Knott, and Howard Mickelsen; sisters, Doris Butler, Lillian Thompson, and Arlene Wagner.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
