Moore Services Held Last Month
Eldon DeWayne Moore, age 87, of Bartley, passed away at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook on Sunday, December 11, 2022. He was born on the family farm north of Cambridge in Frontier County on April 2, 1935, to Earl and Doris (Wight) Moore.
Eldon grew up and went to school in Bartley, graduating in 1953. Eldon married Marilyn Doyle in 1954. To this union Kathy, Bill, Mark, and Mike were born. Marilyn passed away in 1963.
When Eldon graduated from school and started farming, he traded his car for his first tractor. Eldon was farming nine years before he knocked on the door of Delores Kulwicki’s home. Six months later, on July 26, 1964, they were united in marriage. The wedding brought four children into the fold: Jeanne, Don, Carol, and Carla.
Eldon and Delores moved their family to a farm north of Bartley, where they lived until they moved into Bartley in 1995. Eldon served on the Bartley Equity COOP Board, Nebraska Association of County Officials, was a county commissioner for Red Willow County for thirty-two years, retiring in 2000, and served the Bartley Christian Church.
He enjoyed going to various sale barns and buying feeder cattle, and feeding many cattle through his farm feed yards and several commercial feed yards. Over the years, he and Delores enjoyed traveling to check his cattle in the pastures and various feed yards.
Eldon and Delores enjoyed a cruise to México out of Los Angeles, California. They belonged to the Good Sam’s Club, enjoying camping around the area lakes. The couple would winter in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico from 2006 until 2015.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Doris; first wife, Marilyn; son, Mark; daughter, Kathy Reid; sister, Norma and husband Roy Hart, Jr.; and grandson, Brady Koch.
Eldon is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Delores; children: Jeanne Moore, Don and wife, Vonnie Moore, Bill and wife, Trisha Moore, Carol and husband, Bob Chalupa, Carla and husband, Brian Malleck, and Mike and wife, Brenda Moore; son-in-law, Chris Reid; fifteen grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service were held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the McCook Christian Church. Pastor Clark Bates provided the words of comfort. The congregational hymn was “The Old Rugged Cross.” The recorded musical selection was “Promise of a Lifetime” by Kutless, while “One Day at a Time” and “Precious Memories” were the special musical selections.
Brad Randel was the vocalist. Adrienne Randel was the accompanist.
Pallbearers included Scott Moore, Ryan Moore, Grant Moore, Jason Koch, Aaron Koch, Brent Moore, Justin Malleck, and Kyle Newcomb.
Eldon’s final resting place was in the Bartley Cemetery at Bartley.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Bartley Auxiliary Fireman Fund.
