C. Jean Jensen Passes at Age 75
C. Jean Jensen, 75, of Kearney, formerly of St. Libory, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.
Memorial services were held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Kearney First United Methodist Church. Pastor Matt Fowler officiated. A private family burial was held at Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.
All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island was entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
Jeannie was born on March 25, 1947, near Loup City, the daughter of Glenn and Norma (Mohr) Staab.
She grew up on farms in Custer County until high school, when her family moved into Broken Bow. After graduation, she completed one year of education at Chadron State College before marrying her high school sweetheart, Garry Morgan. They were blessed with a daughter, Tammie. She continued her education at the Grand Island School of Business. In 1971, the family moved to Colorado. After her marriage ended, Jeannie and Tammie moved back to Broken Bow.
On November 20, 1976 Jean married Gaylord Jensen and they were blessed with a daughter, JoDee. They made their home in Grand Island before, in 1984, they moved to St. Libory.
Jeannie was the office manager for ophthalmologist Dr. Chase and, after he retired, Dr. Harkins.
Jeannie was a member at First-Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island and, recently, she attended Kearney First United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of Central Nebraska Antique Tractor and Equipment Club. She enjoyed attending tractor shows and tractor drives with Gaylord.
She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed preserving memories in many scrapbooks. Jeannie was also a volunteer at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island and a 4-H leader. She loved to care for her flowerbeds and her pets, Taz and Sadie.
She is survived by her daughters, Tammie (Tony) Berck of Kearney and JoDee (Todd) Hubbard of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Logan (Kelsie Brown), Kaitlin, and Haylee; brothers, Eldon (Ann) Staab of Castle Rock, Colorado and Chuck (Lana) Staab of Grand Island; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Jens and Pearl Jensen; and husband, Gaylord in 2018.
