Dode in Running for State Hall of Fame

Prominent Nebraskans are being considered for induction into the Nebraska Hall of Fame and, once again, Howard County’s own Grover Cleveland Alexander has been placed in the running for the honor. Every five years, the state elects one new person into its hall of fame, commissioning a bust of their likeness for display in either the state capitol or another commissionapproved location.

American Legion Auxiliary 119 Meets

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 met on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the new St. Paul Legion Club with six officers and three members present. President Char Schmid called the meeting to order. Bev Williams read an opening prayer. Schmid led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution. Secretary Kelsey Scheer took a role call and read the minutes from the June meeting. The minutes were corrected. Treasurer Diane Bennett gave the treasurer’s report.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Meets

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at 11:30 a.m. on June 16, 2022 at the Venture Center in Central City. Originally, the meeting place was to be held at Veterans Memorial, South Park, but due to extreme heat, the move was needed. Festivities began with members reciting the Collect, then enjoying an old-fashioned box lunch exchange and good catch-up conversation.
