Central Community College Holds Event Featuring Coaches

Coaches are invited to participate in a learning experience, “Coaches Passing the Mic,” from 8:15 a.m. until noon on August 13th at Central Community College–Columbus. “It isn’t what coaches teach us through words that makes us winners. It’s what they teach us through example. It’s what they teach us about life,” said Karen Mroczek, CCC– Columbus communityeducation coordinator. She said the event is open to coaches at all levels, from little league to club organizations, from elementary to junior/ senior high school and college. “This is an exceptional learning experience to grow as a coach. The insights you will gain from the engaging, transformative conversation will carry over into all areas ofyour life.” The event will begin with registration and a continental breakfast in the Raider Fieldhouse. Open forums will follow in the Fine Arts Theater. Featured speakers will be: Eric Behrens, head basketball coach at Omaha Central High School. Behrens has coached for eighteen seasons, and has a record of 389-84, seven state championships, eight state championship games, and seven Metro Holiday tournament champions wins. He also was head basketball coach at Peru State College from 2014-2017, where he had a record of 53-41. Honors included NAIA Division I National tournament qualifier, ranked twenty-first – Heart of America Conference champions.

SPHS Class of 1962 Holds Reunion

THE ST. PAUL HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1962 gathered together over the weekend of Grover Cleveland Alexander Days. There were eighteen out of the remaining thirty class members in attendance. Glen McKoski, of Hutto, Texas, traveled the greatest distance. Several members participated in the parade, attended an open house on Saturday afternoon, and had dinner at Miletta Vista Winery on Saturday evening. The weekend’s events concluded with a gathering at the Sweet Shoppe on Sunday morning. Nancy Harders Checking the river flows Sunday evening, it appears that the South Loup River is back down with a discharge of 113 cubic feet per second and that there is not a lot of difference for the Middle Loup River from last week, with a reading of 613 cubic feetper second.Life on the Loup slowed down this past week. What’s been happening? We had a couple of dads that brought their sons fishing.
