Pastor Donald Lee Lovell, 83, of Beaver Crossing, formerly of St.

Paul, went to be with his Lord on October 25, 2023, in Lincoln, at the age of 83.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church in St.

Paul. Pastor Daniel Bear officiated. Kaleena Smith, Rachel Bear, and Glen Jares were the musicians.

Music selections included “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “At Calvary,” and “Amazing Grace.”

Pallbearers included Kelvin Smith, Brian Smith, Glen Jares, Jeff Fellers, Steve Odhe, and Ryan Hall. Honorary pallbearers included Jake Denesia, Cody Denesia, Ben Clore, Anna Clore, and Joey Clore. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

A visitation was held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Jacobsen-Greenway- Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church in memory of Don.

Don was born on January 22, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois, to Raymond and Esther (Stomberg) Lovell.

He was raised in Peoria, where he graduated from Manual High School in 1958. He graduated from the Prairie Bible Institute – Three Hills in Alberta, Canada in 1964. He was united in marriage to Karen Carlson on May 31, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd and Mary Carlson. He began his public ministry in 1967 in Manning, North Dakota. From there, he served in churches in Salem, South Dakota and Fort Calhoun. He retired from ministry from St. Paul (Grace Baptist Church) in 2005, making his home with his wife and son in Beaver Crossing.

Don was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, as well as playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Lovell of Beaver Crossing; sister, Patricia (John) Casey of Galesburg, Illinois; and his brothers, Allen (Debbie) Lovell of Princeville, Illinois and John (Linda) Lovell Peoria, Illinois; He is also survived by three children, RuthAnn (Steve - deceased) Clore of Peoria Illinois, David Lovell of Beaver Crossing, and Becky (Pat) Denesia of Lincoln; four grandsons, Jake Denesia, Cody Denesia, Benjamin Clore, and Joey Clore; and one granddaughter, Anna Clore.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and motherin- law; son-in-law; and brother-in-law, Norman Carlson.
