Betty L. Wichmann

Betty L. Wichmann, 91, of St. Paul, formerly of St. Libory, died peacefully Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabiliation in St. Paul.

Graveside services were held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Grand Island City Cemetery in Grand Island. The Reverend Craig K. Niemeier officiated.

The recorded selection was “Go Rest High on That Mountain’ by Vince Gill.

Brett Sullivan, Matthew Cordes, Jason Leth, Rod Wichmann, and Bryce Wichmann were the casket bearers.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting Betty’s family.

Betty was born November 17, 1934, on the family farm near Doniphan, the daughter of Walter and Erna (Stueven) Boltz. She attended country school near the family farm and later graduated from Doniphan High School.

Betty was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms.

She was united in marriage to Don Wichmann on July 18, 1956. Betty was a farm wife, mother, and homemaker.

She enjoyed cross-stitching and putting together puzzles. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Kim and Terry Sullivan, Steve Wichmann, Greg Wichmann, and Lisa and Duane Bierbaum, all of St. Libory; five grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren, with another on the way; sisters and brother-inlaw, Jeanette and Ron Bahensky and Wanda Knuth; brother-in-law, Wendell Toben; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Wichmann, on July 4, 2004; great-grandson, Beckett Cordes; sister, Beverly Toben; and brother-inlaw, Dennis Knuth.
