Jens “Jim” William Rojewski, 93, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025.

Jim was born on July 28, 1932, in St. Paul, to John and Elvina (Jensen) Rojewski. He lived a life defined by quiet strength, compassion, and a deep, steady commitment to caring for others.

After graduating from high school, Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a corporal, a supply clerk, and a commanding officer’s typist. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Janette Ambroz, on May 26, 1958. United in marriage for sixty-seven years, they raised four children: Jay, Joy, Jon, and Jed.

Jim worked for many years at The Grand Island Independent, where he sold advertising and built lasting connections across the community. He later worked at KG Men’s Store, and eventually helped Jan operate her beloved daycare, known to many as “Mrs. Jan’s.” Together, they also welcomed foster children into their home—offering love, stability, and a place to belong.

In 1993, Jim and Jan retired to Republican City, where they enjoyed lake life and later opened The Country Store in Alma. For over twenty- five years, they helped others discover antiques, collectibles, and hidden treasures, always with a friendly smile and kind words.

Jim had an unwavering passion for helping people—whether it was lending a hand, listening without judgment, or offering steady guidance. He was the calm voice in chaos, always patient, thoughtful, and sincere. His quiet wisdom came with a gentle smile, a warm hug, and his grandchildren remember his signature greeting of “Hey, Kiddo” at the beginning of every conversation.

No matter what life brought, Jim had a steady reassurance for those around him. His simple reminder—“It’s all going to be alright”— was both his comfort and his legacy.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elvina Rojewski, and his siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jan and their children, Jay and Jacy Rojewski of Georgia, Joy Henn of Iowa, Jon and Kim Rojewski of Hastings, and Jed and Judy Rojewski of Lincoln. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who knew him as “Papa” and were the greatest joy of his life.

A private memorial service for immediate family was held on Thursday, October 2nd.
