Gloria Jean (Comeau) Lewis, 70, of Cotesfeld passed away in St. Paul on September 5, 2024.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Lyndle Lewis officiated. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Gloria was born January 23, 1954 in Omaha, to George Comeau and Wanita (Clement Comeau) Weddle.

Gloria and Milford Lewis have resided in Cotesfield for thirty-two years.

During the early years of her life, Gloria’s family traveled and lived in many different states, including California, Nevada, and Texas, but, ultimately, they came back to Nebraska, where she attended high school in east Omaha. Gloria had seven brothers and sisters and multiple cousins and always a great love for her large family.

At the age of eighteen, Gloria found her soul mate, Milford Charles Lewis, and they began dating. Their love grew and Milford and Gloria became man and wife on August 26, 1972.

She gained seven more brothers, sisters, and best friends that day.

Almost overnight, Gloria became the mother she never had to be.

Gloria and Milford took in and adopted their first three children (Nickie, Barry, and Michael).

During this time, her family grew even more, and she was proud to be the most fun and loving aunt she could be to all her nieces and nephews. As a housewife, Gloria strove to keep the cleanest house in Nebraska. As a mother, she was fierce. Most would agree that Gloria had a heart of gold and a strong way of expressing her opinions. In 1983, the family moved to Loveland, Colorado where Gloria studied and became a licensed beautician. She loved making women look as beautiful on the outside as they were on the inside. In 1992, now empty-nesters, Gloria and Milford relocated back to Nebraska. Her first three children were grown and gone, starting their own families and careers; so, what did they do next?

They bought an acreage and became foster parents. This led to the adoption of their next six children (Christian, Robert, Alexis, Deja, Tanner, and Raven) and she couldn’t have loved them harder.

In total, Gloria had nine children but became a mother, a counselor, and a friend to any young person that needed her.

Gloria’s biggest enjoyment was spending time with her kids, her grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, and if there was a baby in the room, it was on her lap.

Gloria was a member of the United Veteran’s Ladies Auxiliary, and she loved spoiling her grandchildren, dancing, camping, playing cards, gambling, and she spent many, many, many hours playing Yahtzee.

Milford and Gloria celebrated fifty-two years together, and she was loved by all who knew her. Gloria is survived by her spouse and children: Milford Lewis, Serena (Bert) Smith, Barry (Angel) Lewis, Michael (Kelly) Lewis, Christian Lewis, Robert Lewis, Alexis (Michael) Eastwood, Deja Lewis, Tanner Lewis, and Raven Lewis. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Devyn (Elliot) Lewis, Taylor Schram, Brandon Lewis, Audrey Lewis, Egon Eastwood, Mavis Eastwood, and Zale Eastwood and five great-grandchildren, Elsie Wilkinson, Cora Harrings, Emilia Harrings, Tate Lewis, and Aurora Lewis. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Comeau, Sam Weddle, and Dan Weddle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, George Comeau and Wanita Weddle; sister, Darlene Gibson; sister and brother-in-law, Georgina and Bill Potter; brother, Rick Lamp; and grandson, Cody Craft.
