American Legion Auxiliary 119 Meets
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 met on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the new St. Paul Legion Club with six officers and three members present. President Char Schmid called the meeting to order. Bev Williams read an opening prayer. Schmid led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution. Secretary Kelsey Scheer took a role call and read the minutes from the June meeting. The minutes were corrected. Treasurer Diane Bennett gave the treasurer’s report.
Committee Reports and Old Business: Poppy donations went well this year with a total of $744.49 being collected. Charlotte Rasmussen chaperoned two junior members, Samantha Stepanek and Shia Rasmussen, to the department convention in Columbus last month. Samantha and Shia were pages for the 100th Anniversary of Nebraska American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). While they were there, they visited the war memorial and listened to the national president of the ALA. Scheer and Barb Sack reported back that the cleaning of the hospital equipment storage shed went well and the Orphan Grain Train graciously accepted all of the donations.
New Business: Sack said that the photo display board would be completed by GCA Days. Mary Lou Christensen, cheer captain, has sent nineteen cards since the beginning of the year. This consisted of seven birthday cards, five sympathy cards, five thinking-of-you cards, and two get well cards. Charlotte Rasmussen reported that the auxiliary has hit one hundred percent membership this year.
Dates to Remember: August 6th, American Legion Gun Raffle; September 11th, County Meeting in Boelus; September 25th, Membership and 100th Anniversary Party; and October 16th, District Meeting at Saint Paul.
There being no further business, Schmid adjourned the meeting.
