American Legion Auxiliary 119 Meets
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 met on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the new St. Paul Legion Club with six officers and two members present. President Char Schmid called the meeting to order. Dianne Bennett read an opening prayer. Schmid led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution. Secretary Barb Sack took roll call and read the minutes from the May meeting. The minutes were corrected. Treasurer Viola Koperski gave the treasurer’s report.
Committee Reports and Old Business: Sack reported that Poppy Day went well. Total proceeds will be reported next month. The Junior Auxiliary celebrated a successful year with a pizza party and a short meeting after distributing poppies. Carissa Stepanek is now officially the new Junior Auxiliary Sponsor. All Junior Auxiliary books and banking were turned over to her. Schmid reminded auxiliary members of the Department Convention to be held from June 24th until June 26th at the Ramada Inn in Columbus. They will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Nebraska American Legion Auxiliary.
New Business: The Auxiliary was asked to help with the Lunch Bunch this summer, but, after discussion, it was decided to not participate this year. The Auxiliary set the date for their membership party and 100th anniversary party. They will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, with more details to come. Schmid announced that the Legion is having a gun raffle on August 6, 2022. Kelsey Scheer and Sack set Sunday afternoon, June 26th, to clean the hospital equipment storage shed and transport excess hospital equipment to the Orphan Grain Train.
Election and installation of new officers for 2022-2024: president, Char Schmid; vice president, Bev Williams; secretary, Kelsey Scheer; treasurer, Diane Bennett; chaplain, Barb Sack; historian, Donna Dobish; and sergeant-at-arms, Joyce Ward.
