County commissioners approve application to rezone tract of land

A great deal of ground was covered at the Howard County Courthouse last Thursday morning during a regular meeting of the Howard County Board of Commissioners that lasted well into the afternoon. The longest single item on the commissioners’ agenda last week, and the item to garner the largest public turnout, was a public hearing regarding a rezoning application to rezone a roughly 78.34acre tract of land located on the north half of the southwest corner of Section 25, Township 14, Range 10 West—south of Gun Ranch Road off of United States Route 281—from predominantly A1 to entirely A2.

HCMC cuts ribbon on new Wellness Center

After just over one year of construction, the Howard County Medical Center (HCMC) cut the ribbon on its new, eight-million-dollar Wellness Center last Thursday, May 2nd, officially opening the new center to use.
Riders greeted by fans, supporters at stop in St. Paul

More than 150 motorcycles stopped at the Howard County Fairgrounds on Sunday as part of the annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. Hundreds of fans from across the area made their way to the fairgrounds north of St. Paul for the brief fan event, which saw several big names from NASCAR and beyond meeting with fans and signing autographs at around noon on the sunny Sunday.

The combination of some tough competition and a shakeup in the Wildcats’ lineup in preparation for next week’s postseason led to mixed results for the St. Paul Wildcats when they competed at the Ord Invite last Thursday.
Centura golfers compete at LouPlatte Conference meet

The LouPlatte Conference continues to sport some of the best golf teams in central Nebraska, and the Centura boys found themselves among those ranks last week. On Thursday, the Centurions joined eight other teams for the annual Lou-Platte Conference Golf Tournament.
